Texas Pecan Cakes FAQ

Common Questions

Where can I buy a Texas pecan cake?

You can buy authentic, handcrafted Texas Pecan Cakes in several ways:

  • Online: Order at texaspecancakes.com for nationwide shipping — orders typically arrive within 1–3 business days.
  • Retail locations: Our cakes are available at select retail locations. See all locations here.
  • Local pickup: Available at Ghostline Kitchen in Austin, TX with 2–4 business days' advance notice.

What is the best Texas pecan cake?

Texas Pecan Cakes won the 2017 H-E-B Quest for Texas Best award in the Bakery category with our Butter Toffee cake, placing first among 600 entrants — one of the most competitive food competitions in Texas. What sets our cakes apart: Texas-grown pecans sourced from local suppliers, premium ingredients including Pure Grade A Maple Syrup, Pure Mexican Vanilla, and Imperial Dark Brown Sugar, small-batch baking, and a no-junk ingredient list free of hydrogenated oils, shortening, high-fructose corn syrup, and preservatives.

What makes a Texas pecan cake different from a regular pecan cake?

A true Texas pecan cake uses Texas-grown pecans as the foundation of the batter — not just a topping. The best Texas pecan cakes are baked in small batches with clean, quality ingredients (no preservatives and no high-fructose corn syrup). The format also matters: our cakes are baked in the iconic Texas silhouette shape, making them as much a regional keepsake as a dessert.

What is the difference between a pecan pie and a Texas pecan cake?

Pecan pie is a pastry-based dish — a sweet filling of eggs, sugar, and high fructose corn syrup baked in a pie crust, with pecans on top. A Texas pecan cake incorporates pecans throughout the batter as the primary ingredient, not just on the surface. The result is completely different: no pastry shell, no high fructose sticky filling. Our cakes are dense, handcrafted, and shelf-stable for 30 days at room temperature, which means they ship well and can be gifted across the country.

How many people does each cake serve?

  • Small cakes: 1–2 people

  • Large cakes: 8–10 people

Our cakes are chock full of pecans, so they tend to be more filling than your typical dessert cake.

Do your cakes need to be refrigerated?

  • Shelf Stable: up to 30 days
  • Frozen: up to 365 days

You can freeze them for up to 12 months in the original sealed or airtight packaging. Do not store cakes in the refrigerator, as this may dry them out.
